Jose R. Dubon Tovar received his bachelor in instrumental performance in violoncello in 1993 and in 1994 a bachelor in music education from Columbus State University, Columbus, Georgia. In 2002, his master of music in instrumental conducting from Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia and in the spring of 2021 his Doctor in Music in Orchestral Conducting from the University of South Carolina at Columbia, USA. 


Mr. Dubon has been a member of the following orchestras: the Augusta Symphony, Augusta, Georgia (1999-present); Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra/Opera, Chattanooga, TN, 2001-2008; the Macon Symphony Orchestra (1989-2000), Macon, Georgia; Principal cello of La Grange Symphony Orchestra (1989–1998), La Grange, Georgia; Principal cello of the Albany Symphony Orchestra (1989–1997), Albany, Georgia; Principal cello of the Ohio Light Opera, Wooster, Ohio (summer of 1998). As an orchestral conductor, Mr. Dubon has been the Assistant Conductor of the Atlanta Community Orchestra (2004-2006), Assistant Conductor of the Buckhead Youth Orchestra, Atlanta, GA (2004 to 2006), Guest Conductor of the Da Salo Solisti Chamber Orchestra, Lilburn, Georgia in the following concerts: Spring Concert Sunday, May 19, 2013; Fall Concert Sunday, November 18, 2012; Spring Concert Sunday, May 20, 2012 and Summer Concert Sunday, June 1, 2011. Dr. Dubon has conducted and performed in Bacau, Romania; Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico; Washington, Maine, USA; Tucuman, Tucuman, Argentina; Chile, South America; Spain and Honduras, Central America.


He has the following honors: Centennial High School Orchestra, Roswell, GA - Outstanding Director Award Class of 2011; DELTA OMICRON International Music Fraternity, Cincinnati, OH - Certificate of Honors in recognition of Cellist Performer Of Delta Omicron Triennial Composition: Dedica for Cello and Piano, Performance date - July 17, 2009 and the Delta Omicron Foundation, Inc., Cincinnati, OH - AWARD to Jose R. Dubon Tovar, Atlantis String Quartet, for Superior Performance, In the Thor Johnson Memorial Commissioned Work: PASSAGES by David Sartor premiered at the Delta Omicron International Music Fraternity Centennial Conference, July 17, 2009; Griffin Middle School, Smyrna, Georgia Educator of the Month to Jose Dubon, In Recognition of your Dedication to Excellence, October 2005.


Mr. Dubon Tovar is the Founder & Artistic Director of TAICE - The Atlantis International Chamber Ensemble. He has a distinguished career as a music educator, conductor, cellist, and international performer with Twenty nine years of teaching experience at the Elementary, Middle, High School and Private studio. He is a professor, teacher, and clinician from Strings Orchestras, Chamber Ensembles and Symphony Orchestras to General Music, Music Appreciation, Western Music, Music Theory classes, as well as, String Jazz and Mariachi Ensembles. He is well known for being an energetic, knowledgeable, experienced and creative educator with a proven ability to get the very best out of students and having a capability to support aspiring young musicians. He is an effective communicator, and student advisor/advocate, as well as to be recognized for innovation in program development, instruction, and administration, able to demonstrate and encourage high standards of professionalism.
