EMILY ADAMS WHITNEY

Mrs. Emily Adams (Whitney), soprano, is a dramatic coloratura soprano originally from South Louisiana and is a graduate of Northwestern State University ’17 and Georgia State University ’23 with a Bachelors and Masters in Voice Performance. Emily has lent her extremely high soprano notes to chamber choral ensembles in Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Italy, and Poland and in the U.S. most notably with her work as a titular Studio Artist for St. Petersburg Opera Company in St. Pete, Florida. Emily has performed extremely difficult roles in her career such as The Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte), Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), Alcina (Alcina), La Contessa (Le nozze di Figaro), and counting!
When she is not rehearsing for an upcoming role or program, she is either at the Alpharetta PetSmart caring for all of the little animals, or at HMA teaching her lovely students! Mrs. Whitney is professionally trained to teach Italian, Russian, German, Spanish, and French diction as well as laryngeal-freeing vocal techniques for all ages and levels.
Mrs. Whitney comes from a very musically inclined family, her mother being a performer
and trained mezzo-soprano and her father being a band director and film composer. She
began her start in musical theatre and has been the music director for numerous children’s musicals such as the Junior versions of Beauty and the Beast, Legally Blonde, Mary Poppins, and the full-length Shrek the Musical.
In her free time, she loves to cook, watch Disney movies, drink coffee, and spend time with her husband, Lee, her cat Louie, and her dog, Farrah.
