THEORY & AURAL SKILLS

Theory & Aural Skills Classes are free for HMA students enrolled in private lessons and are recommended for K through 12th grade students. A workbook must be purchased separately for class participation. These classes are structured around the Theory Time method and books, which have recently become the basis for the National Federation of Music Clubs theory event. In these classes, students focus on music concepts such as counting, rhythms, scales, chords, terms, analysis, ear training, and more. Music Theory students understand their music better and are more well-rounded musicians. For more information on the Theory Time method: https://www.theorytime.com.

Accelerated Theory Classes are generally recommended for ages 10 through adults. These classes are the "fast forward" version of the "Theory and Aural Skills Classes".

Classes are 45 minutes.

These classes are not available during Summer Session and are only available August through May.

Private Theory Lessons are available for all ages and levels.
