MOLLY CALLAHAN

Molly Callahan’s musical path began with a simple, pivotal gesture: in the sixth grade, her best friend took it upon herself to get Molly placed in band. That decision sparked a lasting devotion to percussion, and she hasn’t put her sticks or mallets down since. About a year later, on her thirteenth birthday, Molly used all of her birthday money to buy a butterscotch blonde Telecaster, and a new dimension of her artistry emerged. Songwriting and singing soon became central to her musical identity.

After high school, Molly spent three years as the front ensemble technician and instructor at Winder-Barrow High School, during which she also offered private lessons in guitar and drum set. Her teaching is guided by a core belief: that everyone is a musician, even if no one has seen it in them yet.

She is currently pursuing a degree in English Education with a minor in Music at the University of North Georgia, drawn equally to the structures of language and the architecture of sound. Across her time at UNG, she has performed with the pep band, jazz ensemble, percussion ensemble, wind ensemble, and string band. In April of this year, she traveled with the UNG string band to the String Band Summit in Johnson City, Tennessee, where she performed on guitar and vocals.

Beyond music, Molly is deeply invested in literature, specifically Multicultural American Literature, where narrative, identity, and resistance meet. She is also an active bandmate and collaborator with fellow Hawk instructor Erol Savaş; the two write original songs and play covers together, building something honest and unpretentious. She shares her home with a cat whose full name is Chili’s Loaded Baked Potato Soup, or simply Soup to those who know her.

Molly expects to graduate by the end of 2027 and intends to remain at Hawk Music Academy while moving forward into a teaching career, continuing the work of bringing language, story, and music together.
