Hawk Music Academy student participated in the North Fulton Music Teachers Association Fall Festival. Students were required to perform pieces from memory in front of a judge for assessment and ratings. Congratulations to all the students who received Superior ratings and students who passed the Georgia Auditions Theory Exams!

Alex Gravitt was accepted into the University of Georgia's Summer Music Institute. He was able to use his NFMTA scholarship for part of the tuition. In this program, students experience what it is like to be a music major and participate in lessons with professors, masterclasses, recitals, take classes, and more. Alex is a student of Dr. Dawn D. Hawk.

Colin Shin was selected as one of two winners of the Georgia Federation of Music Clubs - Continuing Education $600 Scholarship. He also received an "Outstanding Performer" rating at the Georgia Music Teachers Association State Competition for his concerto performance. Colin is a student of Dr. Dawn D. Hawk.

Resident of Eugene, Oregon, Dr. Wyatt True taught lessons, a Masterclass, and performed a concert in one busy weekend! Along with Georgia Musicale Group members, the concert featured HMA faculty members Nancy Mack, Dr. S. Eric Hawk, and Dr. Dawn D. Hawk performing Bartok, Copland, and ended with Schumann's E-flat Major Piano Quartet. 

This year, we had nearly 200 entries in our festival - a huge growth from last year! Cup winners from HMA this year were: Aron, Aashna, Aryan, Rachel, Riley (x2), Jessica, Devin (x2), Hitu (x2), Priya (x2), and Kavina.

Congratulations to Mia, Ethan, Hitu, Hannah, Jessica, Alex G., Alex S., Devin, Kris, Aryan, and Vitaliy for qualifying for Regionals! Additionally, two students of Dr. Dawn Dalangin Hawk were selected as scholarship recipients: Hitu Jani was selected for the $400 Jackie Hollingsworth Scholarship and Alex Gravitt was selected for the $300 NFMTA Scholarship to use for a music camp or festival this summer.

In our first ever, "HMA Concerto Concert", we had 19 students perform concerto movements with string quartet featuring HMA faculty Elisa Street, Nancy Mack, and Dr. S. Eric Hawk. Students played pieces by Bach, Haydn, Rollin, Shostakovich, Vivaldi, and more!

Alex Shoulders was selected as the 2nd place winner in the Class III division of the Federation Junior Composer's Contest. Alex is a student of the Hawks. Congratulations to Alex!

Congratulations to all of our students who received Superior ratings at the North Fulton Music Teachers Association Fall Festival! Additionally, we had twelve students who were selected as Performance Award cash prize winners!

Students of Dr. Dawn Dalangin Hawk, Aron, Hitu, Priya, Mia, and Saahil were awarded both the Center Certificate of Excellence and the State Certificate of Excellence in their Royal Conservatory Exams during the 2017-2018 academic year. The Center Certificate of Excellence is awarded to students who achieved the highest mark at the Alpharetta exam center and the State Certificate of Excellence is awarded to students who received the highest mark in their state.

Aron Bauer, student of Dr. Dawn Dalangin Hawk, was selected to receive a $300 North Fulton MTA Scholarship and a $600 Georgia Federation of Music Clubs Scholarship this year. He will use both scholarships to attend the Organ Institute this summer at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey.

Congratulations to Kris, Colin, Alex, Saahil, Mia, and Aron for receiving "Outstanding Performer" ratings at the North Fulton Music Teachers Local Auditions. Aron Bauer was selected to receive a $300 NFMTA Scholarship.

Devin was recently awarded the Royal Conservatory of Music Center Certificate of Excellence and the State Certificate of Excellence for receiving the highest score at the Alpharetta center and the highest score in the state.

On October 28th, we had 24 students participate in the Fall Festival. We had 23 Superiors, 1 Excellent, and 6 were selected for Performance Award cash prizes! All 12 students who took the Georgia Auditions Theory Exam successfully passed and 4 had perfect scores!
